Recently I started a new job and finished my internship! My schedule has been very busy trying to learn how to "adult". Oh, my! "adulting" can be hard! I have been using all the following ways to relieve stress throughout the day and on the weekend. Each one has its own benefits and have helped me tremendously. I thought I'd share them with you!

This is my favorite way to release tension or stress. I wake up and turn all my cares and concerns over to the Lord to begin my day. It's the perfect way to start your day. Many of us fall short to beginning our day with the Lord, I know I'm gulity, but it's never to late to start. He hears all your prayers and he will increase your joy and restore you daily.
One of best way to relieve stress and tension is exercise. This will allow you to benefit in many ways such as releasing endorphins. When your body releases endorphins ( a natural chemical our bodies produce) you will relieve stress and enhance pleasure. Believe it or not that hard, tiring work-out will benefit you. Also, who doesn't want a beach-ready body? Pick up those dusty gym shoes and head to the gym!
I have always heard great things about essential oils and there amazing benefits. It wasn't till recently I was able to have hands-on experience with essential oils. I recently purchased a diffuser and I swear by it at night, during the day, or whenever I have a chance to turn it on. The oils help me relax and refocus my thoughts. I turn on my diffuser when I am writing in my journal or resting. My current favorite oils: Lavender and Orange
Lavender: eliminate nervous tension, induces sleep, pain relief, and many more!
Orange: Sedative, mood booster, reduce anxiety, increase focus, and many more!
There are plenty of other essential oils and blends you can purchase. Researching prior to using oils in a diffuser, on your skin, or smelling them is very important. Contact your physician prior to using any oils for any concerns or questions that may be health related.

Deep breathing is essential for our everyday lives. Many times when we are stressed out we take short & shallow breaths. This causes us to reduce the amount of oxygen flowing to our brain. Deep breathing will increase the oxygen you are taking in and increase the oxygen in our blood which provide nutrients to the brain and other portions of our bodies. Deep breathing will help you thrive throughout the day, you will feel more relaxed and focused. Close your eyes and take a deep breath right now. Feel that? It's amazing just to feel yourself breathe. Be present daily, take 5mins out of your busy day and refocus on taking deep breaths and calming your nerves.
Writing in your Journal
Writing in a journal might not sound appealing but it can truly benefit you. It's the perfect way to organize your thoughts. You can weigh out the pros and cons of whatever is stressing you out. I enjoy weighing pro and cons of my concerns. It's shocking sometimes to see I have already made my decision figured it all out. My pros and cons help me learn I am dwelling on my decision. You can also write quotes, prayers, sayings or whatever makes you feel better at that time. This is a great way to look back on your past entries and see how far you have come!
